The Faculty of Human Ecology (Fema) of IPB University held the Fema Wellness event, a seminar themed “Mental Health for a Resilient Ecology,” at the IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (9/20). This event was part of a series of events commemorating Fema IPB University’s 20th anniversary.
The Chairman of the Fema 20th Anniversary Committee, Prof Pudji Muljono, in his remarks emphasized the importance of understanding mental health for students. He emphasized that this understanding can help students navigate the dynamics of lectures and daily life.
“This event demonstrates our commitment to developing students who are not only academically intelligent, but also mentally and emotionally strong,” he said.
The chief of the event’s organizing committee, Dr Defina, stated that the event featured three competent speakers. First, Dr Ratri Virianita, Chairman of the Fema Mental Health Task Force, presented the results of a survey on the mental health of Fema students.
The second speaker, Nabila Dian Nirmala, MPsi. This psychologist explained academic stress and coping strategies. In her presentation, Nabila emphasized the importance of social support and stress management strategies, including sharing stories with friends or counselors.
Meanwhile, dr Riati Sri H, SpKJ, MSc, the final speaker, presented on the relationship between human ecology and mental health. She highlighted the role of the campus community in creating a safe space for students to share and access counseling services.
The event was attended by approximately 100 students, primarily new Fema students from the 62nd class. The atmosphere was interactive, with participants highly enthusiastic in discussions and asking questions of the speakers.
Through this activity, Fema IPB University reaffirmed its commitment to producing a generation of young people who are academically and mentally resilient. Fema Wellness is expected to be the first step in building a culture of mental health awareness on campus. (*/Rz)(IAAS/LAN)
