Plantain Squirrel

Body length is 160 – 218 mm and tail length is 120 – 210 mm. Its body weight can reach 292 g. The upper body is dark grey with hair tips of a lighter color. There are usually fine brownish spots. The lower body ranges from dark to light, but is always reddish or orange. One of the subspecies has a lower leg that is greyish. The sides of the ribs are pale reddish-brown and black.
